Martina Navratilova and Julia Lemigova welcomed two sons to their family earlier this year. The two have been married for a decade now, having tied the knot in December 2014.
Parenthood, if Lemigova’s words are anything to go by, comes naturally to the tennis legend who last played a professional tennis match way back in 2006.
Speaking to the People Magazine in a recent interview, Lemigova opened up about how she and her wife are manoeuvring through the novel experience of parenting two young boys.
While Lemigova has two daughters from her previous relationships, parenting is a completely new experience for Navratilova. Her wife, however, expressed joy at how things have progressed, saying that the tennis legend is the first to wake up in the morning to make their kids pancakes before taking them to school.
"[Martina Navratilova] loves it. She's making pancakes in the morning, taking them to school," Julia Lemigova said. "She's so energized."
Elaborating on their relationship with their sons, Lemigova went on to say that their two sons are “saving” her and Navratilova and vice-versa.
"When we first got them, we thought we are saving them, but in reality, we're both saving each other," she added.
Notably, Navratilova had herself in an interaction with the People’s Magazine after welcoming their two sons earlier this season expressed excitement and joy at the prospect of learning the nitty-gritties of parenthood.
"We are over the moon recognizing the challenges and the rewards for everybody," Navratilova had told People Magazine back in August shortly after adopting her two sons.
"It's like [being] a new mother again all of a sudden after being an empty nester" - Martina Navratilova's wife Julia
Julia Lemigova, a former Miss USSR, also spoke about going from being an “empty-nester” (she has two daughters from previous relationships) to a new mom again.
The 52-year-old said waking up to the “little faces” of her sons gives her immense joy, before reiterating how sudden the change of becoming a new mother has felt.
"And seeing them, like waking up in the morning with their little faces and what joy it brought into our life," Julia Lemigova said. "It's like [being] a new mother again all of a sudden after being an empty nester."
Navratilova had proposed to Lemigova at the 2014 US Open. The couple tied the knot in December later that year.
