Angelique Kerber brought down the curtain on her tennis career after losing to Zheng Qinwen in the quarterfinals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Garbine Muguruza, Boris Becker, Zheng, and others congratulated the German for her successful stint in the sport.

Andrea Petkovic said she was emotional after seeing Kerber's final match.

Zheng Qinwen, who became the last opponent of Angelique Kerber's career, also shared a message for her.

Sabine Lisicki, who reached the final at Wimbledon 2013, sent a message to the German, looking back on teaming up for the Olympics.

Angelique Kerber hangs up her racquet after inspiring Paris Olympics 2024 campaign

Angelique Kerber went down fighting in the last tournament of her career. She announced ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024 that it was going to be the final event before she called it quits on her illustrious career.

She started strong with a straight-set victory over Naomi Osaka in the first round, before downing Jaqueline Cristian 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the second round. In the third round, Kerber faced Leylah Fernandez and defeated her 6-4, 6-3.

In the quarterfinals, the German met Zheng Qinwen but lost in a close encounter lasting over three hours. She won the first set 7-6(4) but the Chinese fought back to win the next two sets 6-4, 7-6(6).
