Stefanos Tsitsipas, Denis Shapovalov and others congratulated Casper Ruud after the Norwegian announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Maria Galligani. Ruud and Galligani went public with their romantic relationship back in 2018. At the time, the Norwegian was a promising youngster who had just started to make a name for himself.
Since becoming Ruud's girlfriend, Maria Galligani has become an integral member of the Norwegian's team, and regularly cheers him on from his box at tournaments. She has seen Ruud reach the finals of three Grand Slams (2022 and 2023 editions of the French Open, and 2022 US Open) and a career-high ranking of World No. 2 as well.
On Tuesday, November 26, Casper Ruud took to Instagram and shared three pictures of himself and Maria Galligani striking romantic poses, confirming the couple's engagement and upcoming marriage. Ruud captioned the post:
"Can't wait to marry you," followed by an engagement ring emoji.
It didn't take long for congratulatory messages to pour in for Ruud and Galligani from the Norwegian's tennis colleagues. Stefanos Tsitsipas, Denis Shapovalov, Kim Clijsters, Flavio Cobolli, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Alex Corretja were some prominent names from the tennis world to congratulate the lovebirds following their beachside engagement.
"Congratulations," Stefanos Tsitsipas wished, via a GIF featuring 'Minions' from the 2010 film, Despicable Me.
"Congrats!" wrote Denis Shapovalov.
"Congratulations guys!" Kim Clijsters chimed in.
"Grande Casp," added Flavio Cobolli.
"Grande!!! Congratsss both," Alejandro Davidovich Fokina commented.
Meanwhile, Corretja wished the pair well via three clapping emojis.
Caroline and Charlotte, Ruud's sisters, also blessed the Norwegian and Galligani.

Caroline, Ruud's elder sister, and Charlotte, the Norwegian's younger sister, both expressed their feelings of happiness after the former World No. 2 and Maria Galligani's engagement. Both Caroline and Charlotte, like Galligani, have become pivotal members of Ruud's traveling entourage, and often show up at tournaments to support their brother.
"Y'all are perfect together," Caroline commented on Ruud's Instagram post (translated from Norwegian).
"Happy for you," wrote Charlotte (translated from Norwegian).
Tennis-wise, 2024 was a positive year for Ruud on the ATP Tour. He won the biggest title of his career so far this season at the Barcelona Open, also adding the Geneva Open title to his resume. The Norwegian's season ended with a loss to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the Nitto ATP Finals. Ruud will start the 2025 season as the World No. 6.
