Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas recreated the infamous Spiderman meme on the opening day of the 2024 Laver Cup in Berlin. The two rivals are currently teammates for Team Europe as they look to bring back the cup to their continent.

Medvedev and Tsitsipas have been one of the most prolific rivalries in recent times. Not only have the two created thrilling encounters but there has also been some exchange of words on a few occasions.

The first meeting between the two came in the opening round of the 2018 Miami Masters where the Russian came back from a set down to clinch the win. However, after the ceremonious handshake, the 28-year-old didn't take too kindly to some remarks he overheard coming from the 26-year-old. He went up to Tsitsipas, who evaded Medvedev keeping silent during the entire scenario.

The chair umpire tried to calm the Russian down who responded,

"He is a small kid who doesn't know how to fight."

Medvedev and Tsitsipas have made comments about other players on several occasions. However, the two players seemed to have buried the hatchet and shared a practice session at the Indian Wells Masters earlier this year.

Tsitsipas, currently representing Team Europe, shared a photo of him and Daniil Medvedev pointing their fingers at each other recreating the popular Spiderman meme. He asked the Russian how they fared in doing so.

"How did we do, @DaniilMedwed ?👉👈" the Greek tweeted.

Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas have joined up for Team Europe for the second time. Their first outing together was a memorable one with Team Europe decimating Team World 14-1 to lift their fourth consecutive Laver Cup

In April this year, Daniil Medvedev opened up about his relationship with Tsitsipas to Sport-Express Russia. He said that it was tough being close friends with someone as it required longevity but mentioned that he had a normal and respectful relationship with the Greek now.

"Being very close friends with someone is difficult. You need to know each other for a long time, have common interests - like Andrey, Karen and Roman. It seems to me that now we (himself & Tsitsipas) have completely normal, respectful relations."

Medvedev didn't rule out possible moments when the two create controversy on the court, however, he mentioned that the two had the utmost respect for each other.

"Who knows, maybe there will be some more controversy on the court. But, in my opinion, everything developed only in a positive direction for us. Now we respect each other as athletes and treat each other completely calmly.”

Daniil Medvedev and Tsitsipas have faced each other 13 times in their careers so far with the former leading their head-to-head 9-4.
