Stefanos Tsitsipas left his girlfriend Paula Badosa feeling envious of his flowing locks while sightseeing ahead of the 2024 Japan Open. Tsitsipas is currently in Tokyo for the ATP 500 hardcourt tournament, while Badosa is in Beijing for the 2024 China Open.
After a disappointing 2024 US Open campaign where he lost in the first round to Thanasi Kokkinakis, Tsitsipas competed at the 2024 Laver Cup in Berlin. He represented Team Europe and played in both singles and doubles matches during the tournament.
In the singles match, the former World No. 3 faced Thanasi Kokkinakis from Team World on Day 1 and emerged victorious with a score of 6-1, 6-4, contributing to Team Europe's 1-1 tie after his team had lost the first match of the tournament.
Tsitsipas then teamed up with Casper Ruud for a doubles match but lost to the American-Chilean duo of Ben Shelton and Alejandro Tabilo with a score of 1–6, 2–6.
Following his campaign at the Laver Cup in Berlin, Stefanos Tsitsipas traveled to Tokyo to compete in the 2024 Japan Open. He recently shared a picture of himself sightseeing in Tokyo while wearing a pair of quirky sunglasses.
"Living the dream, Tokyo edition," Stefanos Tsitsipas posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Tsitsipas' girlfriend Paula Badosa reacted to the picture adorably, stating that the Greek's hair had "flow."
"So much flow," Badosa wrote.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will face Alex Michelsen in Japan Open 2024 1R
Stefanos Tsitsipas, who is seeded fourth, will take on qualifier Alex Michelsen in the opening round of the 2024 Japan Open.
Tsitsipas had a disappointing North American hardcourt swing leading up to this tournament. At the 2024 Canadian Open, he was seeded eighth and started his campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. However, he was defeated by Kei Nishikori in his opening match.
At the Cincinnati Open, the Greek, seeded ninth, managed to overcome Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round but fell short in the second round against Jack Draper.
Stefanos Tsitsipas then participated in the US Open where he was eliminated in the first round by Thanasi Kokkinakis. Most recently, he competed in the 2024 Laver Cup, where Team Europe won the cup for the fifth time.
Meanwhile, Alex Michelsen earned his spot in the main draw of the 2024 Japan Open by defeating Yasutaka Uchiyama 6-3, 6-4 in the first qualifying round and then triumphing over Borna Coric 6-3, 6-3 in the second.
Tsitsipas and Michelsen have never faced each other on the ATP tour. Their first round match at the ATP 500 hardcourt tournament in Tokyo will mark their first time going up against each other.
The winner of this match will advance to face either Tomas Martin Etcheverry or qualifier Christopher O'Connell in the second round.
