Martina Navratilova pinpointed why she could "never" vote for the Republicans. She maintained that her stance would not differ until the party's attitude changed.
The Donald Trump-led Republican party rose to power after defeating Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the US Presidential Election on November 5. Robert F Kennedy Jr., who once called Trump "a sociopath", suspended his presidential campaign and endorsed the 78-year-old during the elections. As per the latest reports, Trump has nominated Kennedy Jr. for the position of health secretary.
"Mr. Kennedy will restore these Agencies [Health and Human Services] to the traditions of Gold Standard Scientific Research, and beacons of Transparency, to end the Chronic Disease epidemic, and to Make America Great and Healthy Again!," Trump said in a statement, via BBC.
The changing dynamics of the relationship between Trump and Kennedy Jr. have stirred concerns among people online. One X user opined that the government was run "by toxic men for toxic men."
"A government run by toxic men, for toxic men. The He-man Women-Hater's administration," the individual wrote.
Concurring with this argument, Navratilova stated that she could never vote for the Republicans, labeling them as "sycophants and toxic men." The tennis legend also argued that many confuse their wealth with "brains and goodness."
"Exactly why I could not ever vote for Republicans, the sycophants and toxic men they are now. Not until this attitude changes. Also too many people mistake wealth for brains and goodness," Martina Navratilova wrote.
Navratilova has continuously voiced her disgust against the Donald Trump-led Republican government. She recently mocked Trump voters after the President's latest threat to impose tariffs on imported products.
Martina Navratilova: I cannot think of being friends with anyone who would vote for Donald Trump
Martina Navratilova slammed Donald Trump supporters, stating that she could not even imagine "being friends" with them.
Trump hosted a rally as part of his election campaign last month at Madison Square Garden and Navratilova criticised it, comparing it to a Nazi rally in 1939. She labeled Trump a "wannabe fascist", asserting that no one should bother making excuses for him.
"After the abominable Trump rally which was a carbon copy of the Nazi rally there in 1939 I think? - I truly cannot even think of being friends with anyone who would vote for the wannabe fascist named Donald Trump. Don’t even bother trying to make excuses for him," Martina Navratilova wrote on X.
The rally at Madison Square Garden saw Donald Trump make a 78-minute speech. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and retired professional wrestler Hulk Hogan were also present in the rally, endorsing Trump for the presidency. Trump went on to become the President nine days later.
