Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle recently highlighted him ending the year 2024 with a crucial singles win over Croatia at the United Cup. Fritz was part of the American team which won the tournament in 2023 by defeating Italy.
Fritz, Coco Gauff, Danielle Collins, Denis Kudla, Robert Galloway, Desirae Krawczyk, and team captain Michael Russell, make up the American team. The USA, along with Canada and Croatia, is part of Group A whose matches have been taking place at the RAC Arena in Perth.
In their first tie against Canada, the USA secured a 2-1 victory, with the only loss coming after being Fritz was defeated by Canada's Felix Auge-Aliassime.
Most recently, the USA faced Croatia and emerged victorious with a 3-0 win. Coco Gauff defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the women's singles match, while Taylor Fritz secured his first singles match win at the 2025 United Cup by defeating Borna Coric 6-3, 6-2. In the mixed doubles rubber, Fritz and Gauff defeated Petra Marcinko and Ivan Dodig 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face China.
After Taylor Fritz's singles win against Croatia, the official social media account of the United Cup shared a video of his winning point over Borna Coric.
“Ending the 2024 year with a BANG 🎆 Fritz locks in the first singles win for Team USA 6-3 6-2 🇺🇸 ," the United Cup captioned the Instagram post.
Fritz's girlfriend, Morgan Riddle then re-shared United Cup's post on her social media account, highlighting his success.
Taylor Fritz will compete at Australian Open 2025 after United Cup
After completing his campaign at the 2025 United Cup with the United States of America, Taylor Fritz is expected to compete at the Australian Open, which is scheduled to take place from January 12 to January 26, 2025.
Fritz entered the 2024 edition of the Melbourne Major as the 12th seed. He kicked off his campaign by defeating Facundo Diaz Acosta 4-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the first round and then overcame lucky loser Hugo Gaston 6-0, 6-3, 6-1 in the second round.
The World No.4 went on to secure victories over Fabian Marozsan 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 and seventh seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6(3), 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the third and fourth rounds, respectively. However, his journey came to an end in the quarterfinals when he faced off against the top seed and 10-time Australian Open champion, Novak Djokovic, losing 6-7(3), 6-4, 2-6, 3-6.
