Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle has appealed to the public to donate their respective contributions towards the relief fund for earthquake-related damages in Turkey and Syria.
A highly destructive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria in the early hours of Monday, February 6. The earthquake's epicenter originated near the town of Gaziantep, Turkey, and was closely followed by numerous aftershocks, killing thousands. The death toll is reported to be above 20,000.
Several countries around the world have responded to the crisis by sending aid. Many celebrities are doing their part as well, urging their fans to contribute to the aid in any way they can. World No. 8 Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Riddle urged her friends online to act responsibly and contribute towards those affected in whatever way possible rather than simply spreading awareness through social media.
"@ my influencer friends - i hope when you are sharing viral posts of "how to donate" and "how to help" that you are donating yourself to the degree you are able. it will feel good and make a difference. this is a selfish job, please choose to be selfless this time," she wrote on her Instagram stories.
Riddle affirmed that the couple had donated to both The Syrian American Medical Society and the International Rescue Committee, while reminding the public about the severity of the calamity.
"the death toll passed 20,000 today. it's one of the worst natural disasters to happen in our lifetimes. there are people, children, animals, who need help. taylor and i have donated to both The Syrian American Medical Society and The International Rescue Committee -- because right now that's all we can do," she stated.
Riddle acknowledged that the public might find it difficult to know where to donate and shared some tips for the same on social media.
