Taylor Townsend said her son Adyn Aubrey would grow up to have a backhand like the World No. 1 Jannik Sinner as the three-year-old practiced tennis on the court. Since Aubrey's birth on March 14, 2021, Townsend has been balancing parenting duties and tennis.
The American professional player with a career-high ranking of No. 46 in the singles, had a stellar 2024 season, winning her first Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon Championships alongside her partner Katerina Siniakova. Concluding her season with a semi-final exit from the WTA Finals, Townsend shifted her attention to spending time with her close ones, especially her son Adry Aubrey.
Born in 2021, the little one has already showcased his tennis prowess, following in his mother's footsteps. On December 18, the mother-son duo took to the courts for a morning practice session, when Aubrey caught his mother's attention with exceptional backhand shots. Townsend posted the video on her Instagram story.
The story caption read:
"My Man’s gonna have a backhand like @janniksin….I Hope”
In the video, as her son returned some shots at the net, Townsend said,
"You gonna have a backhand on you. AJ Good Job!”
Another story featured the coach running around with Adyn on the ball cart. The caption read:
"post prac sprinting"
In another story series, she was giving lessons to Adyn as he played the xylophone.
Taylor Townsend hilariously expressed her agony as a single mother
Since welcoming Adyn to the world, the American player has often posted glimpses of her routine with him. Her son accompanies her nearly everywhere, whether to the tennis court or the kitchen. In a series of photos shared on December 17, Townsend snapped a sleepy Adyn munching on strawberries in the car's backseat while she drove to tennis practice.
The next story featured the three-year-old inside the ball cart and was followed by one of him helping collect the balls for his mother. After tennis, the mother-son duo headed to Adyn's jiu-jitsu. After it was over, they returned home to an enjoyable bubble bath and story time before bed.
Next, the Grand Slam champion posted stories of her cleaning the room and asking her son to arrange his toys. With a visible expression of exhaustion on her face, she hilariously captioned:
"Yo… this single mom sh*t is no joke. I’m exhausted, bro."
Taylor Townsend made it to the finals of the 2023 French Open and the 2022 US Open.
