Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova reached their maiden doubles final at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. They achieved the feat at the expense of Hsieh Su-Wei, who had not lost a women's doubles match at the grass slam since 2018.

Townsend and Siniakova are seeded fourth in the women's doubles main draw at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. They were given a tough fight in every contest at SW19 but prevailed against Rebeka Masarova-Linda Noskova, Elixane Lechemia-Olivia Gadecki, Leylah Fernandez-Ena Shibahara, and No. 9 seed Jelena Ostapenko-Lyudmyla Kichenok to reach the semifinal.

Taylor Townsend and Katerina Sinaikova faced top seed Hsieh Su-Wei, the defending champion, and Elise Mertens in the semifinals on July 12. A single break of the Siniakova serve was enough for Hsieh-Mertens to take the first set. Townsend-Siniakova made a blistering start to the second set, going up 3-0. While Hsieh-Mertens pegged back one break, they could not reverse the deficit and let go of their lead.

Townsend and Siniakova maintained their momentum in the deciding set, breaking their opponent twice and closing the contest on the first match point 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. The result brought an end to an incredible winning streak in women's doubles at the Wimbledon Championships for Hsieh Su-Wei, which stretched back to 2018.

After a third-round exit in 2018, the Taiwanese star won her second women's doubles title at the Wimbledon Championships in 2019 with Barbora Strycova. The grass slam was not held in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.

In 2021, Hsieh took her winner trophy home after partnering with Elise Mertens. After skipping the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, the 38-year-old was back on the winner's podium in 2023, this time with her old partner Strycova.

Hsieh Su-Wei still has a chance of going home with silverware from the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. She has reached the mixed doubles finals at SW19 with Jan Zielinski of Poland and will face the Mexican pair of Santiago Gonzalez and Giuliana Olmos in the title clash.

Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe are the last hurdles in Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova's path to a maiden doubles Grand Slam title together. Dabrowski and Routliffe are the reigning US Open doubles champions and reached the semifinal at the 2024 Australian Open.

The Canadian-New Zealand pair are seeded second at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. They have defeated Anastasia Potapova-Mirra Andreeva, Kamilla Rakhimova-Iryna Shymanovich, Elena Gabriela Ruse-Marta Kosytuk, Barbora Krejcikova-Laura Siegemund, and Caroline Dolehide-Desirae Krawczyk en route to the title contest.

Meanwhile, Katerina Siniakova will be vying for her third women's doubles title at the Wimbledon Championships after 2018 and 2022, and her ninth overall women's doubles Grand Slam title. As for Taylor, Townsend hopes to win her maiden Grand Slam title in her third attempt after finishing runners-up at the 2022 US Open with Caty McNally and the 2023 French Open with Leylah Fernandez.
