Team USA assured of tennis medal at Paris Olympics 2024 after Rajeev Ram & Austin Krajicek reach men's doubles final

Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram have assured Team USA of a medal in tennis after the duo defeated Tomas Machac and Adam Pavlasek in the semifinals of the men's doubles at the Paris Olympics 2024. This will be the USA's first tennis medal since 2016, when Steve Johnson and Jack Sock won bronze.

The duo of Krajicek and Ram was seeded fourth and faced Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin in the first round. They won 6-2, 6-3 to reach the second round, where they faced Thiago Seyboth Wild and Thiago Monteiro of Brazil. The Americans came out on top, defeating them 6-4, 7-6(3).

In the quarterfinals, the fourth seeds faced the fan-favorite duo of Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal. Krajicek and Ram got the better of the Spaniards, winning 6-2, 6-4. The semifinal encounter saw them take on Tomas Machac and Adam Pavlasek, and the Americans claimed a comprehensive 6-2, 6-2 win.

Win this win, Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram are now assured of a medal at the Paris Olympics. The color of the medal, gold or silver, will be decided on August 3.

They could be joined by compatriots Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz as the duo are facing Dan Evans and Andy Murray in the quarterfinals. The winner of this battle will face Matthew Ebden and John Peers in the semifinals.

Paul and Fritz defeated Canadians Felix Auger-Aliassime and Milos Roanic in the first round, before downing the Dutch pair of Robin Haase and Jean-Julien Rojer in the second.

Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram reaching the gold medal match has been a speck of hope in an otherwise lackluster showing for Team USA in tennis at the Paris Olympics 2024.

In the women's singles, Coco Gauff lost to Donna Vekic in the third round, while Jessica Pegula was downed by Elina Svitolina in the second round. Emma Navarro tasted defeat in the third round against Zheng Qinwen, and Danielle Collins' campaign ended in the quarterfinals against Iga Swiatek.

Taylor Fritz lost in the third round of the men's singles against Lorenzo Musetti, while Tommy Paul was beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals.

The doubles pairing of Gauff and Pegula lost to Linda Noskova and Karolina Muchova in the second round. Collins and Desirae Krawczyk also lost in the second round to Lyudmyla Kichenok and Nadiia Kichenok.

Gauff and Fritz paired up in mixed doubles, but were beaten by Gabriela Dabrowski and Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals.
