Carlos Alcaraz recently recruited the services of veteran coach Samuel Lopez for his 2025 season. Lopez will join Alcaraz's main coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, who was his ward in the latter's playing days.

Carlos Alcaraz is looking to make steady improvements, as evidenced by a recent change-up in his coaching team. Samuel Lopez, who previously coached top players like Juan Carlos Ferrero and Pablo Carreno Busta, has joined the 21-year-old's team.

The four-time Major winner spoke positively about Lopez's addition to his team, claiming that the 54-year-old coach and Ferrero get along well. He also expressed optimism for the 2025 season.

"I think Samuel, for me, is one of the best coaches that we have on tour. They trust each other 100 percent and being able to travel with both, for me, it’s going to be great. I think I’m going to grow as a player thanks to them," Carlos Alcaraz said (via Tennis.com). "I think we are going to work pretty hard and pretty good for the next season and the next years. Hopefully we are going to make good results together."

Alcaraz enjoyed a good season on the ATP Tour in 2024, winning 54 of his 67 matches while triumphing at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. That said, the young Spaniard also struggled with consistency throughout the year, which led to him dropping to No. 3 in the year-end singles rankings.

Carlos Alcaraz also revealed that he had recently started showing more assertiveness in terms of the improvements that he desires in his game. The 21-year-old also insisted that he admired his new coach Samuel Lopez, as he looked forward to their future together.

"They’re listening to me much more than before. Obviously when I was 16 years old I had nothing to say," Alcaraz added. "Right now I’m doing more things for myself, let’s say I’m taking more decisions, serious decisions."
"So I think (we) both are doing great work together as a person as well just to make sure this relationship is still pretty good and the love that we have for each other is huge. So I admire him as a professional but as a person as well."

Alcaraz has been coached by Juan Carlos Ferrero since the age of 15. The Spaniard began training at the 2003 French Open champion's academy in Villena, Spain in 2018 and has since had a huge impact on men's tennis.
