Fans were shocked as kids anticipated a break and made their way toward the courtside stands before Coco Gauff began her service game at 3-5 in the deciding set of her US Open fourth-round match against Emma Navarro. It 'rattled' Gauff, according to some fans, as she made multiple double faults and lost.

The reigning US Open champion faced a tough test in the fourth round of her title defense against compatriot Navarro. Gauff lost the first set but recovered to win the second. However, Navarro managed to keep her composure to win the third set and advance.

However, at 3-5 in the deciding set, Gauff faced disturbance from the crowd as she was gearing up to begin her service game. Kids were starting to line up on the courtside seats to get their memorabilia signed in anticipation of the 20-year-old's defeat.

Eventually, Gauff committed three double faults in the game leading to Navarro breaking her and winning the match. A video of the incident was posted on X:

Fans were astonished that this was permitted.

"This actually can't be allowed again! Absolutely ridiculous," one fan wrote.
"That was terrible. I know the kids were just excited, but it had to rattle Coco to see kids assuming she was about to lose," another fan wrote.
"Considering she had 3 double faults immediately afterwards, I’m sure it did rattle her," a third fan wrote.

Some fans commented on the parenting of the kids.

"This pissed me off so bad. like get your kids!!" one fan wrote.
"This still pisses me off im sorry this is a failure of parenting," another fan wrote.

One fan showed concerns for Gauff's service game as she committed 19 double faults in her loss to Navarro. They wrote:

"Idk what the issue is but I’m really hoping she can get whatever it is with her serve fixed. No reason why a top 3 ranked game player should be having 19 double faults in a 3 set match."

Coco Gauff committed 60 unforced errors in her US Open fourth-round match against Emma Navarro. Comparatively, the 13th seed committed 25 less. During her post-match interview, Gauff said a better service game from her could have changed the match.

“Obviously I wish I could serve better... I think if I would have did that, it would have been a different story for me in the match. I just didn’t take care of my serve, so that was the biggest difference,” Coco Gauff said.

With the win, Navarro has set up a quarterfinal clash against 26th seed Paula Badosa. This will be the first US Open quarterfinal for both competitors.
