World No. 12 Tommy Paul was seen wearing NFL side Philadelphia Eagles' cap in the press conference on Sunday, ahead of his first match at the Adelaide International.

The American tennis star also disclosed his love for basketball team North Carolina Tar Heels and Georgia football when he was questioned if he followed college sports.

"I grew up big into college sports. I used to love the Tar Heels, Tar Heels basketball. I committed to play at Georgia, so I followed their football a bit," Paul said. "I don't know. Lately I haven't been super into college sports. Especially over the past two years or so, it's been more pro sports that I've been watching."

27-year-old Paul was also asked if he would watch Philadelphia's match, which would start at 4:30 am according to the time in Adelaide. But he said that it would depend on what time he sleeps and if the jet lag didn't hit.

"We'll see. We'll see what time I fall asleep tonight," Paul added. "We will see if the jet lag is hitting me. Maybe I'm up already."

Philadelphia Eagles (which is worth $6.6B as per Forbes) will take on the New York Giants in their National Football Conference East Division Fixture. The Eagles are perched on top of the table for the NFC East standings, whereas their opponents Giants are last in the standings.

The Eagles have won 13 East Division titles and defeated the New England Patriots in 2017 to win the Super Bowl title. Tommy Paul on the other hand seeks to better his tally in 2025 after winning the bronze alongside Taylor Fritz at the doubles in the Paris Olympics last year.

Tommy Paul also hoped that he would improve overall and would have better results in the 2025 season. In 2024, Paul won three out of his four career titles, winning in Dallas, Queen's Club (London) and Stockholm.

He also reached the semifinals at the Indian Wells and Rome Masters. But the highlight of the year was winning the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics with Taylor Fritz in Men's Doubles.

"I mean, there's a couple things in my game that I've been working on more than others. I just want to improve overall," Paul said. "Hopefully better results, more titles. I just want to do everything a little better, you know?"

Paul was also in contention to reach the Nitto ATP Finals last season but his hopes were dashed after losing to Brandon Nakashima in the first round of Vienna and then to Adrian Mannarino in his first match at the Paris Masters.

He is the top seed at the ATP Adelaide International this year and has a bye in the first round. In the second round, he will take on the winner of the match between Roman Safiullin and a qualifier winner.

Paul was also the top seed at Adelaide last year and defeated the Australian qualifier Alex Bolt in his first match, before losing to the eventual finalist Jack Draper in the quarterfinal.
