Paul started the 2025 season by reaching the semifinals of the Adelaide International, where he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime. The American then entered the Australian Open as the 12th seed.

In the last eight, he faced second-seeded Alexander Zverev, against whom Paul had a positive head-to-head record. However, the American player faltered at crucial points. Following the conclusion of his Australian swing, Paul has gone back to the US and was spotted at a stable, spending some time with horses. The American's girlfriend Paige Lorenze shared those pictures on her Instagram.
