Fans criticized Nick Kyrgios for taking another subtle dig at Jannik Sinner after the Italian’s victory over Novak Djokovic in the Shanghai Masters final. Kyrgios has been vocal about his issues with Sinner since the Italian’s failed drug tests were revealed in August.
Kyrgios was one of the first to react when Sinner's failed drug tests from March, where he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug called Clostebol, were made public in August. The Aussie was against the "no-fault" verdict given to the Italian by the ITIA and an independent tribunal.
Since then, Kyrgios has commented about the issue on several occasions. He even highlighted the news of the verdict being challenged by WADA recently.
On Sunday, October 13, Sinner got the better of Djokovic 7-6(4), 6-3 in the final of the Shanghai Masters under the watchful eyes of Roger Federer and Carlos Alcaraz.
After the match, one fan posted on X:
"Every player beaten by Jannik Sinner must be thinking by the same thing. This f#cker shouldn’t even be on the court right now."
Kyrgios responded to the post:
"Yep. Ridiculous lol"
Fans' reactions to the 29-year-old's comment were overwhelmingly negative and filled with frustration, criticism, and mockery.
"Players are more annoyed by your antics on court than Jannik's case. Nobody misses you on tour. That's why you are trying to be relevant by being spiteful. Hateful potato," one fan wrote.
"Bring on the tears 😭😂😭😂… Always chasing him around 🤦♂️… Do better Nicks! After all , he achieved all you achieved in a Year and he’s still gonna get more.. THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD! 🦊💪🔥" another fan wrote.
One fan referred to Kyrigos' controversial past and wrote:
"It's ridiculous that you didn't do a day in jail for hitting a woman. Worms like you beat women: with men you act like a sissy."
Here are some more reactions to Nick Kyrgios' latest controversial comment against Jannik Sinner.
"Your fall off needs to be studied," one fan wrote to the Aussie.
"You are ridiculous and pathetic at this point," another wrote.
"No one cares about the opinion of a clown. Shut up," yet another fan wrote.
Nick Kyrgios takes a dig at Jannik Sinner when asked about potential doubles partnership
A few days ago, Nick Kyrgios conducted a Q&A on his Instagram. One fan asked about the prospects of him playing doubles with Jannik Sinner and the Aussie responded by writing:
"I only play with CLEAN players"
Kyrgios was criticized by fans for his jibe at Sinner at the time as well. Also, recently, Kyrgios took to his Instagram story to repost the news about WADA appealing the World No. 1's doping case and seeking a two-year ban. The Aussie sarcastically wrote:
"Hahahaha maybe not so innocent after all eh?"
The Italian had expressed surprise at WADA's decision to appeal his case. Meanwhile, CAS, which will be hearing WADA's appeal, stated that it cannot provide a specific timeline on when the decision will be made.
