Venus Williams and Serena Williams' ex-coach Rick Macci recently reminisced about his coaching journey with the Williams sisters. Macci has been a stalwart in the American tennis scene, having coached Andy Roddick, Jennifer Capriati, Sofia Kenin, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, and many others.

Recently, Venus took a trip down memory lane and shared a picture with her sister Serena from 1994. The duo were pictured sitting in front of a tennis net and were surrounded by tennis balls.

"Throwback to when it all began 💫🎾 @serenawilliams," Venus Williams captioned the post.

Macci reshared the picture with the following caption:

"Two of the best moments in my life! Venus & Serena! 🏆"

Serena Williams decided to hang up her racquet after the 2022 US Open. The American defeated Danka Kovinic and Anett Kontaveit in the first and the second rounds before falling to Ajla Tomljanovic in the third.

Venus Williams, on the other hand, has not yet announced her retirement from tennis but is currently away from the sport, having last played at the Sunshine Double. She lost in the first round at the BNP Paribas Open and Miami Open to Nao Hibino and Diana Shnaider, respectively.

Venus and Serena Williams gave an interview to Harper's Bazaar in 2022 and talked about their early life.

Venus said that Serena used to be bothered by people thinking she couldn't be a good player. She added that the raging doubts brought about a fearlessness in Serena's game and she managed to prove the doubters wrong as she retired with 23 Grand Slam titles to her name.

"Usually in one family there’s one good player and then the other one is not that great. And I think people told Serena she wouldn’t be great. The fearlessness with which she approached the game was something I’ve always really admired. She doesn’t accept second. She explicitly told me herself that she plays for first place," Venus Williams said.

Talking about her legacy, Serena Williams said that she does not think about it and rather focuses on who she was on a day-to-day basis.

"That’s something I don’t think about nor do I want. I don’t want to think about what I’m leaving. I just think about who I am every single day behind closed doors and behind cameras. And that’s what I focus on," Serena Williams said.
