In a bizarre incident, Tomic was removed from the stands at the Santo Domingo Challenger final between Andres Andrade and Damir Dzumhur as the Aussie was heckling the former. He changed stands to get closer to the Ecuadorian and tried to break his concentration.

Tournament officials were forced to intervene and he was removed from the court, at Andrade's behest, after the first set. Andrade, ultimately, lost the match to the third-seed Dzumhur 6-4, 6-4.

This strange incident has drawn a reaction from Tomic's compatriots, Nick Kyrgios and Luke Saville, Daria Savile's husband.

Luke Savile wrote:

"BTTTTT 🤣 "

Kyrgios replied to Saville and wrote:

"Unreal stuff hahaha."

Saville then remarked that it was the best thing he had ever seen.

"Best thing I’ve ever seen hahaha," Saville wrote.

Kyrgios has been away from tennis since June 2023 but has plans to return at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown New York event at Forest Hill Stadium. He will also pair up with Naomi Osaka for a mixed doubles exhibition event, the US Open Mixed Madness', ahead of the 2024 US Open.

"It was very hard, these last 10 months. The last couple of months have been hard seeing everyone playing, playing Grand Slams while I couldn’t. I missed competing, I missed hearing the crowd, my fans," Kyrgios said.

The Australian stated that his goal was to have fun, upon his imminent return.

"My goal will be to get there, to compete, and have fun doing it. It’s been so long since I’ve played a match. I just want to go out there and remember the feelings that I used to feel. And just compete," he said.

The 2022 Wimbledon champion said that he missed winning and wanted to give fans the 'Nick Kyrgios experience' for some more time.

"At the end of the day, I love playing tennis. I’ve missed beating people, I miss winning. And I was winning so much in 2022 before I had to stop. I barely lost. I want to get back out there and have that feeling and I feel that I want to give my fans one more year, or two more years, of the Nick Kyrgios experience," he said.

Kyrgios had a good 2022 season, which included a final run at Wimbledon, Australian Open doubles title, and a title at Citi Open.
