Venus Williams was recently spotted taking in the scenic beauty of the Amalfi Coast in Nerano, Italy, with Andrea Preti, an Italian writer, director and actor. The duo appeared to be enjoying each other's company, both sporting broad smiles.
While Serena Williams is in Paris enjoying the action at the Olympics with her husband Alexis Ohanian and daughter Olympia, Venus Williams has chosen to spend some time in Italy ahead of a potential comeback during the North American hard-court swing. The 44-year-old last competed on tour at the Miami Open in March, where she lost to Diana Shnaider in the first round.
As her tennis hiatus continues, the former World No. 1 and Andrea Preti were recently captured dining against the stunning seaside backdrop in Nerano on the Amalfi Coast.
They embraced the summer spirit with their outfits, with the American donning a chic olive green slip dress, while Preti opted for a loose button-down white shirt. The pair also enjoyed some time together on a boat.
Preti is a Danish-born former model from Italy, who switched to acting and directing after attending the Susan Batson Academy in New York. The 36-year-old wrote, directed, and starred in his debut film 'One More Day' in 2015 and has since appeared in six films.
Venus Williams, meanwhile, has kept up her tennis training even on vacation, recently taking the court for a practice session in Rome.
Venus Williams on her ideal vacation: "I’d wake up late, breakfast in bed... I get to eat junk food and not gain weight"
Venus Williams' relaxing getaway in the company of Andrea Preti seems to embody her ideal trip, as the seven-time Grand Slam champion has previously shared that her perfect vacation is one where "no responsibilities and obligations."
In a 2019 interview with People, the former World No. 1 described that her perfect vacation day would include breakfast in bed, a massage and a movie. The American also humorously remarked that, in an ideal world, she would be able to enjoy junk food without gaining any weight.
"I’d wake up late, breakfast in bed, fall back to sleep, wake up and watch a movie, get up and maybe have a massage. Also on this day, I get to eat junk food and not gain weight," she said.
"So you know, I had champagne at breakfast! Another mimosa when I woke up. I woke up to a foot massage… This is a dream, right? But I think that with the proper planning, this all could happen," she added.
Williams then named Kauai, Hawaii, as her dream destination, disclosing that she loves the beach and is a "warm-weather girl at heart."
