Victoria Azarenka recently showed off her humorous and fashion-forward side. After openly critiquing American tennis star Ashlyn Krueger's layered outfit, Azarenka decided to give layering a try herself, sparking a fun and lighthearted exchange between the two athletes.
The story began when Ashlyn Krueger shared a picture of herself wearing a multi-layered outfit on her Instagram story. The ensemble featured a white top beneath a green top, topped off with a maroon blazer. Azarenka couldn't resist replying:
"Maybe I'm too judgmental. But is that supposed to be a cool thing? 😂"
Not one to back down, Azarenka took to her own Instagram story on Wednesday, December 11, to showcase her attempt at layering. She posted a picture of herself wearing a white Nike top beneath a gray top and asked Krueger:
"How is this for layering?"
Krueger, appreciating the effort, reshared Azarenka's message and complimented her, calling her a "fashion icon."
"It's giving fashion icon," Krueger wrote.
The exchange didn't stop there. Azarenka reshared Krueger's story and praised both their outfits, writing:
"Legendary Pieces 😂."
On the court, Azarenka and Krueger have faced off twice, with both having an even head-to-head record against each other. They met for the first time at the 2022 US Open first round, where the Belarusian won 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. The American got her revenge at the 2023 's-Hertogenbosch Round of 16, winning 6-3, 6-2.
Victoria Azarenka offers a glimpse into her "fun" pre-season training regimen
On Sunday, December 8, Victoria Azarenka showcased her dedication to the upcoming 2025 season with a pre-season training session in Florida. The two-time Australian Open champion is gearing up for another strong performance in Melbourne, where she is listed as an entrant.
The Belarusian player shared a fun clip from her training session on Instagram, featuring her delivering powerful shots on the court while keeping a lighthearted tone.
In the video, Azarenka humorously discussed wearing engagement rings on her middle finger.
"Imagine you get engaged with the middle finger... That should be the one, just the middle finger... Stick it out," she quipped while acting it out.
"If you’re not having at least a little bit of fun, you’re not doing it right," the video was captioned.
Azarenka's 2024 season ended on a mixed note. She made her final appearance at the Guadalajara Open in Mexico, where she had to withdraw during her second-round match against Kamilla Rakhimova because of a right shoulder injury.
