Andre Agassi recently took fans on a nostalgic journey through his iconic on-court fashion choices over the years. From the Nike Air Flare he wore at the 1994 US Open to the famous denim shorts, Agassi’s style has always been as distinctive as his game.

Agassi reminisced in a conversation about the Nike Air Flare he wore during the 1994 US Open. The black-tongue shoes with black socks took on iconic value after he defeated Michael Stich 6-1, 7-6 (5), 7-5 in the final. He described them as his favorite.

Agassi said:

"My favorite shoe I think I ever wore, and it could be distorted because I won the Open in them, was the black tongue ones where I wore the black socks."

The American also expressed his love for the famous denim shorts, which he associated with rebellion and a desire to change the game:

"I don't know how they would look if I had jean shorts, but if we're breaking into categories, I would say shorts, 100% jeans. I mean, when I put those on, I just felt like, I felt better than I did before I put them on. I just went, okay, it's time for me to play now, right? I associated them with rebellion, with expanding the game, changing the game, not from a healthy place necessarily, more from my kind of psyche and demons, but the shorts I would go there," he added.

The video of Andre Agassi talking about his iconic on-court fashion choices was shared by the official US Open X (formerly Twitter) account on August 23, 2024. The post was captioned:

"The shoes, the shirts, the hair, the game. All iconic. Andre Agassi builds his perfect...@AndreAgassi"

Agassi's trip down memory lane also included reflections on the moments when his fashion choices were at the center of tennis culture, such as the lime green shirt and headband look from the 1990 US Open. This was an era when his then-abundant hair and vibrant outfits captivated audiences just as much as his powerful baseline play.

In a conversation shared on the US Open's X account, Andre Agassi fondly remembered the 1990 US Open, where he reached the final, and how he pulled off the lime green shirt and headband look with his then-abundant hair.

"1990 US Open, I played Boris in the semis and Pete in the finals. So the hair is... I would go with that light green, that lime green shirt with the lime green headband, and I still had enough hair to pull it off," Agassi said.

Agassi also recalled his 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 victory against Rainer Schuettler in the 2003 Australian Open final, when he wore a Nike shirt with a black stripe, recalling he felt in complete control of his game

"When I beat Rainer Schuettler in the finals, I was wearing the Nike with the black stripe. I mean, there wasn't going to be one ball I ever felt the need to hit bigger than I had to, and all my percentage quality cuts were just doing damage, and I could repeat it 100 out of 100 times and make people feel like they had to climb Everest without oxygen or sherpas," he added.

Agassi is currently in New York, where he participated in the "Stars of the Open" men's doubles charity match, a part of the US Open Fan Week. Agassi and his doubles partner Carlos Alcaraz went on to win 10-8 against Novak Djokovic and John McEnroe on August 21.
