Bencic welcomed her daughter, Bella, with Hromkovic in April 2024 and returned to the tour after a 13-month break six months later. Since then, she has been making waves, with her latest standout performance coming in Abu Dhabi.

The Swiss defeated Rebecca Sramkova, Veronika Kudermetova, Marketa Vondrousova, and defending champion Elena Rybakina to reach the final, where she faced Ashlyn Krueger. After dropping the first set, she fought back strong, winning the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.

After her victory, Bencic’s husband, Hromkovic, who had been in the stands cheering her on while holding their daughter, was overcome with emotion. He broke down in tears, covering his face as he struggled to contain his feelings.

Belinda Bencic also received congratulations from Krueger, who expressed admiration for her inspiring comeback after maternity.

"I want to say congrats to Belinda on an amazing week. It’s so impressive you coming back and being a mother. It’s really inspirational. Congrats and good luck," the American said during her post-match interview.

Belinda Bencic shared a heartwarming moment with her daughter, Bella, after winning the 2025 Abu Dhabi Open. Following her victory over Ashlyn Krueger, she held Bella in her arms, celebrating the special occasion together.

During her victory speech, Bencic spoke from the heart, admitting she was getting emotional. She expressed how special it was to win a title with her family present, making the moment even more meaningful.

“I didn’t imagine this. I’m also getting a little emotional. I was working really hard to come back and to win a title in front of my family is really special," she said.

The Tokyo Olympic gold medalist then turned to her husband, Martin Hromkovic, and Bella, saying:

“Also to my coach, Iain, I think we did such hard work to play here. To my husband and daughter Bella, I love you so much. It was a big dream for me to come back and play in front of her and to win the tournament. This is the first tournament I won twice so this has got to be my favorite tournament.”

Bencic's next tournament will be the Dubai Tennis Championships, a WTA 1000 event set to take place from February 16-22.
