Mpetshi Perricard and Shelton are two of the most dynamic young players on the tour, and both have huge serves. The Frenchman, especially, has been leaving fans impressed with his unplayable serves.
The two were embroiled in an intense ball-striking encounter in Basel. The 21-year-old Perricard was slated to be a huge factor heading into the match, but, early on, Shelton made a scintillating return off a 236 kmph serve. which left Mpetshi Perricard stunned.
However, not long after, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard hit an unanswerable explosive 230 kmph body serve at Ben Shelton, which hit the American, seemingly on his right hand.

Beating Ben Shelton, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard clinched the biggest title of his career, the ATP Swiss Indoors in Basel. He had won the Lyon Open, an ATP 250 tournament, earlier in the year, beating sixth seed Tomas Etcheverry in the final.
The Frenchman was on a four-match losing streak coming into Basel but turned things around spectacularly. Perricard secured wins over James Duckworth, two-time defending champion and eighth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, fourth seed Holger Rune and sixth seed Shelton in Basel.
Mpteshi Perricard will now reach a career-high ranking of 31 in the ATP rankings. Shelton, meanwhile, will remain the World No. 19.
Giovanni Mpteshi Perricard, who received a wildcard in Basel, and Ben Shelton will next head to the final Masters 1000 event of the year, the Paris Masters. The Frenchman will take on 14th seed Frances Tiafoe in the opening round, while Shelton's opponent is yet to be determined.
