Tennis legend Bjorn Borg recently met tennis commentator Prakash Amritraj on the sidelines of the 2023 Indian Wells Masters. They made a video call to the latter's father, former player Vijay Amritraj, and the trio enjoyed a lighthearted conversation, which included the Swede admitting that he misses Indian food.
Bjorn Borg was recently in India accompanying his son Leo, who was competing at the 2023 Bengaluru Open. At the Challenger event, the 11-time Grand Slam champion ran into his former rival and friend Vijay Amritraj, whom he first played against back in 1973. The duo have enjoyed a good relationship over the past five decades.
A clip of the video call was shared on Tennis Channel's Instagram handle. The call hilariously begins with Vijay Amritraj asking Bjorn Borg to tell his son Prakash that he looks better than him, causing all three to burst into laughter.
"Armritraj connection backstage at TC Live," the post was captioned.
Borg then reminisced about his time in India and said that he misses Indian food.
"I miss Indian food! There is no Indian food here!" he joked.
Prakash Amritraj then asked his father if he had shared some of his wine with the six-time French Open champion, to which the latter mockingly complained that it was just half a bottle.
Fila continues their brand association from Bjorn Borg to son Leo
In an interview at the ongoing 2023 Indian Wells Open, Bjorn Borg spoke about his association with the Italian sportswear brand, Fila.
Borg first signed with Fila in 1975 and continued with them for almost four decades. His Polo pinstripe shirt became popular in the 70s and 80s and his signature range took the brand to greater heights.
Their association did not end after the eleven-time Grand Slam champion's retirement and he became Fila's global brand ambassador in 2018. With his 19-year-old son Leo Borg on the rise in professional tennis, it's no surprise which brand the youngster uses.
"My son is playing a lot, he's playing with the Fila of course," said Borg. "I told him he had to play with Fila. No other brand."
The six-time Roland Garros champion added that he was happy to be back at Indian Wells.
"To come to Indian Wells, it's amazing," said Borg. "The tournament, the stadium, the people. Coming back to see this, it's unbelievable."
