Camila Giorgi dressed in stunning red attire to prepare a delectable Christmas Eve dessert. The Italian star unexpectedly bid tennis adieu earlier this year and has since been focusing on her other interests.
Giorgi is one of the most popular stars in the tennis fraternity and boasts a huge fan following on her social media. She has over 720,000 followers on Instagram, where she posts highlights from her life, including glimpses from her modeling photo shoots.
Christmas is one of the most celebrated occasions of the year and with the season of giving and sharing upon us, the 32-year-old decided to share the recipe of her strawberry and blueberry roll with her fans on Instagram. She donned a red dress, red gloves, and a Santa hat and explained how to prepare the mouth-watering dessert in her style. The post was captioned:
"I start cooking with you on almost Christmas Eve ♥️ Today we make strawberry and blueberry roll 🍓🍰"
The International Tennis Integrity Agency registered Camila Giorgi as a retired professional on May 7, 2024, an announcement that led to much speculation among the tennis fraternity. Some sources claimed that the Italian was under investigation due to disputes with tax authorities, and others that she left the sport to pursue a career in modeling.
However, Giorgi put all those rumors to bed by formally announcing her retirement via an Instagram story, where she also called out the inaccuracies in the rumors about her sudden tennis exit.
"I've wanted to quit for years, the life of a tennis player is a tough one" - Camila Giorgi about her sudden retirement
Appearing on the Italian show Verissimo on Canale 5, Camila Giorgi said she had considered retirement for a long time. She decided to quit "one morning" in May and received support from her family.
"I've wanted to quit for years, the life of a tennis player is a tough one. I put it off for a long time, then one morning in May I decided, I told my father. He was happy, he's always been on my side. It's not true that he's a domineering father, he's very understanding and we've always gotten along very well," Camila Giorgi said.
The Italian said she is enjoying her life in retirement but mentioned that she still enjoys hitting the court for leisure. Her final match was a second-round defeat to Iga Swiatek at the Miami Open.
"Now I'm happy, I'm where I want to be. I like tennis, I still play for fun, but I couldn't stand packing my bags every week, always seeing the same people. Every time I had a physical problem I would get treatment but I was very happy at home with my family and friends, and leaving was increasingly difficult. This door is closed for me."
Giorgi also addressed speculations about her retirement, saying she wanted to make a formal announcement but her plans were derailed when the information became public.
