Carlos Alcaraz credits his team and family for helping him win close matches
Like Spain vs Germany, Alcaraz vs Tiafoe also saw many ups and downs. The Spaniard overcame an intense battle to keep his title defence alive at Wimbledon 2024. He was in trouble midway through the game, going one set to two down to the American.
The fourth set went to a tiebreak with the Spaniard rising to the occasion and sending the match into the deciding set.
The 21-year-old said in the on-court interview that having his team and family's support helped him tide over difficult moments.
"Having my family and team saying ‘Come on let’s go… one more ball. One more point…’ It's always helpful. And yeah, probably, matches like this one without them, it's impossible to win," he said.
Carlos Alcaraz will face either Ugo Humbert or Brandon Nakashima in the fourth round in London.
