Carlos Alcaraz took some time after his challenging match against Nuno Borges to say hello to a young fan. The player from Spain was seen interacting with a young fan who was very excited to find out what professional players do after every match they tackle.
Alcaraz was focused on explaining to the young boy, named John, everything he had to know about a professional tennis player's responsibilities after they leave the court. This included making the boy a part of the press conference that took place after the Spaniard's match.
In the video posted by the official Australian Open account on X, Alcaraz could be seen taking the fan to the press conference, as well as giving him a backstage tour of how everything operates at the tournament after a match. The boy seemed very excited to spend time with his tennis idol.
The video also depicted Carlos Alcaraz telling John that he hopes to see him playing at the Australian Open one day. In a wholesome moment that ended the video, the boy confidently assured Alcaraz that he will steal the spotlight at the Australian Open at some point in the future.
Carlos Alcaraz at the Australian Open
Carlos Alcaraz escaped from a tough battle in the third round of the Australian Open as he took down Nuno Borges in four sets. Even if the player from Spain lost a tight tiebreak in the third set of the match, he still managed to walk off the court with the win.
Before that, he had registered comfortable wins over Alexander Shevchenko and Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets.
The next opponent for Alcaraz at the Australian Open will be Jack Draper. The 15th seed won't be an easy opponent to overcome for the 21-year-old. The two have met on three occasions in the past, with Alcaraz winning in two of those encounters. The last time Alcaraz played against Draper, the British player won at last year's edition of the Queen's Club tournament.
Alcaraz has never won the Australian Open. If he manages to do so, he would join a list that includes Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, as the latest player to achieve a career Grand Slam. Alcaraz would become the first person since Novak Djokovic to accomplish the feat in the men's field.
