Carlos Alcaraz presented a hilarious contrast to Grigor Dimitrov, Jannik Sinner, Gael Monfils, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Flavio Cobolli who all were jet lagged after flying in for the China Open. On the other hand, the Spaniard was well-rested.
At the 2024 China Open media day, the ATP stars were jet-lagged and many were having a tough time getting through the questions. Rublev said he was running on just two hours of sleep and hilariously tried to keep himself awake during the interview. While Daniil Medvedev bluntly responded that he was not feeling well as he had arrived in the morning.
Cobolli was also 'tired' and lamented having to practice against Alcaraz due to jet lag, calling it 'tough.' Monfils also found the morning tough and claimed that he was 'dying'. Sinner declared that he was not 'confident' seemingly due to a lack of sleep.
Dimitrov remarked that the first days were tough for everyone, adding that he would catch some sleep later.
"I arrived this morning I feel like s**t. It's tough for everyone, it’s the first day here. I think I am gonna sleep a little here before I go back. I don't think I am gonna last," Dimitrov remarked.
In contrast to all the other players, Alcaraz was well-rested, revealing that he slept at 11:30 and woke up at 8:00.
"Honestly, it was great. I had a good night. I went to sleep at 11:30 and woke up at 8. So first night it was awesome," the Spaniard said.
Reacting to this video, the Spaniard commented:
"Hahahahaah surprised myself with my first night 😂"
