American tennis player Coco Gauff is currently in California for the 2023 Indian Wells Open. During an interview at the Tennis Garden, Gauff predicted the winner of the Best Picture award at the 2023 Oscars and unintentionally knocked over her microphone during her answer, leading to a hilarious moment.

Gauff is set to kick off her 2023 BNP Paribas Open campaign with a second-round match against Spanish tennis player Cristina Bucsa on Friday. As the sixth seed at this year's tournament, Gauff received a bye in the opening round.

The American tennis star was giving an interview to the Tennis Channel after a practice session at Indian Wells where she was predicting that the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once would win an Oscar. She then accidentally dislodged the microphone and caused a moment of lighthearted amusement for all involved.

Gauff also reminded viewers of her previous prediction for Rihanna's opening song at the 2023 Superbowl. With her track record of accurate predictions, Gauff playfully suggested that she may have psychic abilities.

"I feel like Everything Everywhere All At Once is gonna win and I almost predict....sorry [laughs]. I’m sorry, I said Everything Everywhere All At Once and what I was saying was I almost predicted the Rihanna Superbowl thing. So if I predict this then like, I clearly know, I can clearly see in the future," she said.

The Tennis Channel page shared the video of Gauff on their social media pages. You can watch the video here:

The 18-year old has had ample match practice leading up to the WTA 1000 event, having recently made it to the semifinals in Dubai and the quarters in Doha. Although she started her season with a title win in Auckland, she has yet to replicate that success in the two months since.

Coco Gauff will also compete in the women's doubles at the 2023 Indian Wells Open. She will team up with fellow American Jessica Pegula to take on the Czech duo of Marketa Vondrousova and Miriam Kolodziejova on March 12.

Coco Gauff has often expressed her admiration for both Serena and Venus Williams. In a remarkable turn of events, she catapulted to fame by defeating the elder Williams sister at Wimbledon in 2019, at the young age of 15. This victory was a defining moment in her career, and it showcased her immense talent and potential as a player.

Serena Williams has had a profound impact on the world of tennis, inspiring countless aspiring athletes to pursue their dreams on the court and Coco Gauff was no exception. Gauff previously mentioned that she grew up only watching Williams' matches.

"I was just starting tennis. I really only watched like Serena up until probably like eight years old, and that's when I started watching other players," she said.

From a young age, Gauff has idolized Williams. As an African-American girl growing up on Florida's tennis circuit, she found a relatable role model in Williams that few others could match.
