Coco Gauff always takes time to interact with the fans who support her across the WTA Tour. This year's edition of the Australian Open was no exception. After her second-round match in the first Grand Slam of the season, she was recorded giving a souvenir to a fan of hers who had been showing his support throughout the entire meeting.
Gauff continued her Australian Open campaign against Jodie Anna Burrage. After advancing to the third round, Gauff remembered that one of the fans in the crowd had been chanting in her support for a while. Before leaving the court, she approached this fan and threw a souvenir at him.
@TheTennisLetter on X made an amusing video out of the entire situation. Coco Gauff wanted to throw the souvenir to the fan, but the task proved to be more difficult than expected due to the volume of the crowd. The American player had to return with another souvenir to reward the fan for his support.
Gauff can be considered one of the most charismatic players on tour thanks to events such as the one that took place at the Australian Open. Before starting her campaign in Melbourne, she went through this year's United Cup WTA event without taking a single loss.
Coco Gauff's draw at the Australian Open
Coco Gauff has a complicated path ahead of her if she desires to win this edition of the Australian Open. As the third seed of the draw, the young American did have some advantage over the rest of the field for the first couple of rounds.
The next opponent for Gauff will be Leylah Fernandez. The young Canadian has quickly risen through the WTA rankings over the past couple of years, becoming a seeded player for this event. Gauff defeated Fernandez at the 2025 United Cup, the only professional encounter between the two players.
If Gauff manages to survive her upcoming third-round match against Fernandez, the draw won't be as complicated moving forward due to the seeded players who have already lost in the tournament. The stage has been set for Gauff to make good use of the draw she has been given by advancing to the second week of this year's Australian Open.
