Daniil Medvedev mimicked playing the violin, similar to Novak Djokovic's celebration, when the Wimbledon crowd cheered for Jannik Sinner in the fourth set of their Wimbledon quarterfinal match. The Russian got the better of the World No. 1 in five sets to advance to the semifinal at SW19.

Before taking to Centre Court for their quarterfinal clash, Medvedev led the head-to-head record against Sinner 6-5. However, the Italian entered the match on a five-match win streak against Medvedev.

In the quarterfinal, both players started strongly, forcing a tiebreaker in the first set, which Sinner won 9-7. Medvedev came back with a vengeance and won the second set without facing any break points.

At 1-2 down in the third set, Sinner took a medical timeout. His pulse was checked, and the Italian left the court. Upon his return, he forced another tiebreaker, which was won by the Russian.

In the fourth set, Sinner broke twice and had a newfound energy that helped him force a decider. However, Medvedev was the stronger force in the final set, as he won the match 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3.

Trailing 1-4 in the fourth set after a double break, Medvedev faced a fired-up Centre Court crowd roaring for Sinner. In a playful dig, Medvedev mimicked Novak Djokovic's violin celebration, perhaps referencing the Serb's own fiery interaction with the crowd during his fourth-round clash with Holger Rune on July 8th. Djokovic has mentioned that he uses the celebration as a tribute to his daughter Tara.

Here's a look at Medvedev channeling his inner Djokovic and playing the violin with his racquet as a prop.

Reaching his second consecutive Wimbledon semifinal, Daniil Medvedev expressed satisfaction with his play throughout the match against Jannik Sinner.

"I knew if I was going to beat Jannik it was going to be a tough match... He is not a guy you are going to beat easily. At one moment he wasn't feeling too good but he started playing better and I am happy I managed to stay at a high level," Medvedev said.
"There were some great points, it was a great match and I am happy to win and I am looking forward," the 28-year-old added.

Daniil Medvedev will face the winner of the quarterfinal between Carlos Alcaraz and Tommy Paul in the semifinal on Friday, July 12.
