Daria Kasatkina lightheartedly poked fun at the view outside her hotel room in Ohio where she recently arrived to participate in the 2024 Cincinnati Open. The Russian made the joke for the people who consider her lucky for getting to travel all over the world.
Ahead of the WTA 1000 event, Kasatkina, known for her fun-loving personality, posted a video on TikTok in which she hilariously mocked Ohio. In the video, the 27-year-old can be seen entering her hotel room with the words 'You’re so lucky you get to travel everywhere for work' displayed on the screen.
As soon as she moves the curtains to look through the window, the Russian sarcastically expresses shock before falling on her bed. The view turns out to be generic, with busy roads, buildings, and a few trees. She also tagged 'Mason, Ohio' as the location.
Kasatkina has had a poor start to her North American hardcourt swing. She was the second seed at the Mubadala Citi DC Open. After getting a bye in the first round, she lost 6-2, 5-7, 0-6 to Caroline Dolehide in her opening match.
She then competed at the National Bank Open in Canada where she was the fifth seed and suffered a similar fate, losing 6-4, 6-3 to Amanda Anisimova in the round of 32. Next up for the 27-year-old is another WTA 1000 tournament — the Cincinnati Open — where she is seeded ninth.
Daria Kasatkina will face Ekaterina Alexandrova in the first round of the 2024 Cincinnati Open
Her North American hardcourt swing may be off to a rough start, but Daria Kasatkina will look to get things back on track at the 2024 Cincinnati Open. The Russian will take on her compatriot Ekaterina Alexandrova in the opening round in what will be the fifth meeting between the two.
Nothing separates them in their rivalry so far, as both women have two wins each against the other. Their most recent meeting came at the 2022 Ostrava Open where Alexandrova won in straight sets.
At the 2023 Cincinnati Open, Daria Kasatkina reached the third round after defeating Peyton Stears and Varvara Gracheva. The Russian lost to Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets, whereas Alexandrova was ousted in the opening round by Sorana Cirstea in straight sets.
