Daria Saville had a dramatic meltdown on the court following her defeat in the first round of the 2024 US Open. She was seen sitting on the ground and repeatedly banging her racket in frustration.
Saville's performance this season has been disappointing. Since her quarterfinal exit at the 2024 San Diego Open in March, where she lost to third seed Emma Navarro 4-6, 2-6, she has failed to progress beyond the second round in the main draw in any tournament.
Before beginning her campaign at the 2024 US Open, Saville competed in the women's doubles event at the Paris Olympics alongside Ellen Perez. However, they were defeated 3-6, 1-6 in the first round by the top-seeded American pair of Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff.
At the US Open, Daria Saville faced Ena Shibahara in the first round, who earned her spot in the main draw by defeating Katarina Zavatska, Francesca Jones, and Arianne Hartono in the qualifying round, and emerged victorious with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(6) score over the former World No. 20. Following her defeat, Saville's frustration boiled over, leading to a dramatic scene on the court. She sat on the ground in the middle of the court, repeatedly banging her racket in a display of disappointment and anger at the loss.
