Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray were seen together for the first time as a team in Melbourne ahead of the Australian Open. The Serb has chosen Murray as his new coach.

Djokovic started his 2025 season by competing at the Brisbane International, where he could reach only the quarterfinal round. He bested players such as Rinku Hijikata and Gael Monfils to reach the quarterfinal round; however, he failed to advance further as he was defeated by Reilly Opelka with a score of 7-6(8), 6-3. Now, he is currently preparing for the Australian Open 2025 with his new coach, Andy Murray.

The new duo has been spotted together for the first time in Melbourne practicing for the Australian Open, which commenced on January 6 and will conclude on January 26 at Melbourne Park. The official tournament's page shared a video of both the legends sharing the court by being on the same side for the first time.

Novak Djokovic was seen practicing his skills while Murray was observing his shots in the video. The tweet's caption read:

"What we have all been waiting for... Andy Murray has arrived in Melbourne to begin his partnership with Novak Djokovic."

Novak Djokovic opened up about his new partnership with Andy Murray

In a recent conversation with the ATP Tour in December 2024, Novak Djokovic opened up about his partnership with Andy Murray. He revealed that he spent 10 days with Murray for the preparation of the Brisbane International and said that it was great to be on the same side as him, as Murray has been one of his greatest contenders.

Along with this, Djokovic also said that Murray knows all his pros and cons, as he was his rival once, and this will now benefit the Serb in his games.

“Being on the same side of the net is actually great for a change because he’s been one of my greatest rivals. In a way it was strange for me to share all these kinds of insights about how I feel on the court, sharing some of the secrets of what I’m going through, what I’m thinking about, how I see my game with somebody that has been always one of the top rivals. But I’m so glad and very thankful that he has accepted to work with me here in Australia," Djokovic said.

He added:

"But the 10 days that we spent together were terrific. I enjoyed every bit of it. He’s very meticulous, he’s very dedicated, so professional. He has a unique perspective on my game as one of the greatest rivals that I’ve had. He knows the pros and cons of my game."

He further added:

"I think he’s bringing a fresh look to my game and I think I’ll be able to benefit from that, no doubt, on the tennis court. But also that kind of champion’s mentality that he has, I’m sure that we’ll match very well.”

Along with his partnership with Murray, Novak Djokovic was also seen in an interesting partnership during the Brisbane International as he was paired with Nick Kyrgios for the doubles match.
