Iga Swiatek celebrated her 2024 Italian Open title by spraying champagne over the spectators to commemorate her victory. This was her 10th WTA 1000 title.
Swiatek navigated past Bernarda Pera, Yulia Putintseva, Angelique Kerber, Madison Keys, and Coco Gauff to set up a final with Aryna Sabalenka. The Pole defeated the Belarusian 6-2, 6-3 in the title clash. She did not drop a set en route to her title.
Swiatek and Sabalenka squared off for the crown for a second consecutive WTA 1000 tournament, with the Pole emerging victorious on both occasions. The duo recently also put on a spectacle at the 2024 Madrid Open final.
After her victory, the World No. 1 sprayed champagne over the spectators. Upon realising that she mistakenly sprayed some champagne on children, she hilariously warned them not to consume it until they were 18.
"Sorry for throwing champagne on you. Don't drink until you are 18," Swiatek said.

Iga Swiatek lifted her third title in Rome, thus equaling the record for the most WTA 1000 titles among active players at 10. She also became the first player after Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal to win the Madrid Open and Italian Open in the same year since they achieved the feat in 2013.
Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka joke about facing each other at the 2024 French Open
Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka have now contested two finals in the last two weeks, with the 2024 Madrid Open and Italian Open being contested between the reigning WTA World No. 1 and 2. Both the finals have gone the Pole's way.
In the post-match interview, Sabalenka jokingly fired off a warning to the three-time French Open champion that she was going to "get her" if they were to face in the final of the clay court Major.
"This time I’m not gonna forget, I’m gonna start with Iga. Congrats on incredible couple of weeks here in Rome. Great stuff, great tennis. And I hope we’re gonna make it to the final of Roland Garros, and I’m gonna get you there. Just kidding. I guess I’ll try to do better than today," Sabalenka said.
Swiatek thanked Sabalenka for the great battle on the court in her speech.
"Aryna, another final, another great battle. I knew it wouldn’t be easy. Thanks for sharing the court with me and really pushing me to be better," Iga Swiatek said.
She also responded to Sabalenka's proposition about the French Open final.
"We'll see about that Roland Garros final," she said.
Iga Swaitek will return to the French Open in the hope of a third title in a row, while Aryna Sabalenka is trying to reach her first final in the French capital.
