Iga Swiatek’s doping test controversy has not stopped her from going all in during her training sessions ahead of her 2025 campaign. The Pole shared glimpses of her practice for the first time since addressing the failed test.
Swiatek, who tested positive for low traces of trimetazidine (TMZ) in August, was handed a one-month suspension on November 28 after a “no significant fault or negligence” verdict. It was established that she consumed contaminated melatonin pills, leading to a positive result.
Considering the Pole had already severed a provisional suspension from September 12 to October 4 before her appeal was accepted, her ban—imposed on November 8—is set to last through December 4.
On December 1, Iga Swiatek broke her social media silence for the first time since addressing her controversy. The five-time Grand Slam champion shared a video compilation of her off-season practice sessions in Warsaw. She was captured sweating it out at the gym and training with Australian Open balls on a hard court. Swiatek’s new coach, Wim Fissette, too, was seen by her side.

"I can start my new season with a clean slate" – What Iga Swiatek said about her doping suspension
On November 28, Iga Swiatek addressed her controversy with a video message on Instagram. The Pole detailed how the investigation played out and shared the specifics of her suspension.
"After finding the source, we needed time for the whole matter to be concluded. On September 12, I was provisionally suspended, making me unable to play the tournaments in Asia or defend my ranking," she said, pointing at her Korea Open, China Open, and Wuhan Open absence.
"Clearly, it’s a consequence of this situation, but not the most important one for me. What mattered the most for me was to prove my innocence. Now that the whole thing is drawing to a close, I was put on a symbolic one-month suspension. 22 days are behind me, eight days still to go," Iga Swiatek added.
The former World No. 1 also touched on the emotional toll of the ordeal while looking forward to the upcoming season.
"That means I can start my new season with a clean slate, focused on what I’ve always done, simply playing tennis," she said. "This experience, the most difficult in my life so far, taught me a lot."
Iga Swiatek is set to kick off her 2025 campaign by representing Poland at the United Cup. The squad is gearing up to defend their runner-up finish from 2024. Ahead of her return to Australia, the 23-year-old will also compete at the World Tennis League exhibition event (December 19-22).
She is placed in Team Eagles alongside Paula Badosa, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Hubert Hurkacz. Other top players competing at the event are Aryna Sabalenka, Taylor Fritz, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Elena Rybakina, Casper Ruud, Jasmine Paolini, and Barbora Krejcikova.
