Jannik Sinner recently spent some quality time with Nicolas Jarry's son, Santiago, beore kicking off his title defense at the 2024 Canadian Open. The Italian will compete in both the singles and doubles events in Montreal, partnering with Jack Draper for the latter.
Sinner has had an outstanding 2024 season so far, winning the Australian Open, his first Grand Slam title, as well as the ABN AMRO Open, Miami Open, and most recently the Terra Wortmann Open. The 22-year-old has a record of 42 wins and four losses this season and also reached the World No.1 ranking after defeating Novak Djokovic during the French Open.
Although Sinner was initially selected to represent Italy at the 2024 Paris Olympics, he had to withdraw from the tournament due to a diagnosis of tonsillitis.
Following his withdrawal from the Olympics, Sinner traveled to Montreal to defend his title at the 2024 Canadian Open. He will kick off his singles campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye and will face either a qualifier or Pedro Martinez. In the doubles event, the 22-year-old and Jack Draper will start their campaign against the 16th-seeded Belgian pair of Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen.
Ahead of his Canadian Open campaign, Sinner was seen spending some time with Nicolas Jarry's younger son, Santiago, gently swaying the little boy in his arms.

Sinner claimed his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the 2023 Canadian Open, defeating Matteo Berrettini in the opening round. The Italian then advanced to the quarterfinals after his third-round opponent, Andy Murray, withdrew from the tournament due to an abdominal injury.
Sinner continued his winning streak, defeating Gael Monfils in the quarterfinals and Tommy Paul in the semifinals. He ultimately claimed the title by defeating Alex de Minaur in the final.

Ahead of his Canadian Open campaign, Jannik SInner expressed excitement about returning to the court after his quarterfinal exit at Wimbledon and is hoping to deliver "good tennis."
“I’m practising really hard again. I feel my body fighting. Honestly, it’s really good and I’m ready to compete again . It's a while since the last match I played at Wimbledon. So, let's see . I'm very excited to be here and hopefully I can show some good tennis,” Sinner said [via ATPTour.com].
Sinner also talked about playing on the hard courts in Montreal, stating that it is his favorite surface to compete on. He revealed that he intends to approach each opponent with a "good mindset" and give his best performance
“It’s for sure my favourite surface, but every situation is different. Here, for example, the ball is flying quite a lot, so you have to feel the ball a little bit more and just try to play with a good mindset against every opponent that you have to face,” he added.
