Karolina Muchova is back on the practice courts after months on the sidelines due to right wrist injury. The Czech will hope to make up for her 2024 French Open absence in the coming months as she gears up for competitive return.
Muchova didn't have the desired climax to her highly successful 2023 season. After reaching the finals of the French Open and the Cincinnati Open, and the semifinals of the US Open, the Czech’s campaign was derailed by a wrist injury in New York.
Karolina Muchova, who subsequently qualified for her first WTA Finals after reaching a career-high ranking of World No. 8, was forced to pull out of the event, courtesy of her injury. The 27-year-old underwent surgery in February this year.
"Wrist upgrade: completed! Rehab challenge? Accepted. Following my injury at the US Open and an extensive rehabilitation phase, it turned out that a medical intervention was necessary.
"So, here I am, tired and sad, but I know I’ll be okay now. The surgery was successful, and I’m gonna do all I can to see you on the court again soon," she wrote on Instagram at the time.
Karolina Muchova has begun her comeback preparations as per her social media updates. On Wednesday, May 29, she shared a video of her on-court training drill, where she was seen perfecting her serve-and-volley technique.

A few days ago, the Czech also gave fans a glimpse into her indoor hardcourt training, where she practiced forehands and backhands.
Karolina Muchova likely to return to action at Eastbourne International 2024
Karolina Muchova, who is ranked World No. 16, is set to drop out of the top 30 after the 2024 French Open, having failed to defend her 1300 points as the runner-up from last year.
The Czech, who didn't have a successful grasscourt season in 2023 (opening-round loss at Wimbledon), will now hope to undo the damage caused by her prolonged hiatus by earning some much-needed wins and ranking points on the surface.
The one-time WTA title holder is likely to begin her comeback with the Eastbourne International. She features on the entry list of the WTA 250 event, which is scheduled to take place from June 24-29.
Several other prominent players like 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, Danielle Collins, Jelena Ostapenko, and defending champion Madison Keys are expected to compete at the event.
