Novak Djokovic was seen draping himself in a Serbian flag and joining his fellow athletes in a celebratory dance at the Olympic Village after clinching the gold medal in the men's singles event at Paris 2024. This was the Serb's second Olympic medal, following his bronze win during his Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he defeated James Blake.

This year, Djokovic made his fifth appearance at the Games. He was the top seed in the tournament and kicked off his campaign by defeating Matthew Ebden 6-0, 6-1 and Rafael Nadal 6-1, 6-4 in the first and second rounds, respectively. He then bested Dominik Koepfer 7-5, 6-3 in the third round.

The former World No.1 triumphed over eighth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6(3) in the quarterfinals and 11th seed, and eventual bronze medalist, Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals to set up a final showdown against second seed Carlos Alcaraz.

Djokovic defeated Alcaraz 7-6(3), 7-6(2) on Court Philippe-Chatrier to secure the gold medal in the men's singles event for Serbia. With this victory, he became the fifth player after Steffi Graf (1988), Andre Agassi (1999), Rafael Nadal (2010), and Serena Williams (2012), to achieve the 'Golden Slam' — which is winning all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal in singles.

Following his win, the 24-time Grand Slam champion was seen draped in a Serbian flag, joyfully dancing to the music alongside his fellow athletes

Speaking after his gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Novak Djokovic expressed that winning the medal for his country Serbia was "special" because he put his "heart," "soul," "body" and "family" on the line to win it.

“I don’t know what to say. I’m still in shock, honestly . I put my heart, my soul, my body, my family, my everything on the line to win Olympic gold at age 37. I finally did it . Everything [about this is special], but most of all it is my country,” he said [via ATPTour.com].

The Serb stated that winning the gold for Serbia is "unprecedented." He also revealed that he had only started his celebrations for the medal win and cannot wait to see what the next couple of days bring forward.

“Of course, I want everything there is to win in my individual career, but winning Davis Cup and particularly the golden medal at an Olympic Games for Serbia at the age of thirty-seven is unprecedented. Just starting my celebration, I can’t wait for what’s coming up in the next forty-eight hours,” he added.

Following his campaign at the Paris Olympics, Novak Djokovic, who was scheduled to compete at the 2024 Canadian Open, has withdrawn from the ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
