Carlos Alcaraz has lost his Australian Open quarterfinal match against Novak Djokovic, but the Spaniard received some unexpected support after the encounter. Andy Murray walked up to the talented ATP star in order to console him after the tough defeat. Regardless of the outcome of the match, Murray showed his respect towards Alcaraz's efforts.

Alcaraz was looking to make history by becoming the latest player to achieve the career Grand Slam at this year's edition of the Australian Open. Unfortunately for the young Spaniard, Djokovic had other plans. The champion from Serbia is once again in the semifinals in Melbourne.

The short video uploaded by The Tennis Letter on X shows Carlos Alcaraz busy with his post-match routine. The ATP star looked visibly concerned when Andy Murray approached him to recognize his efforts on the court. The wholesome moment displayed how both tennis champions are gentlemen on and off the court.

Murray was involved in this match becuas he recently joined Novak Djokovic's coaching team. The agreement will see the former rivals working together during the Australian Open. After the first Grand Slam event of the season comes to an end, Djokovic and Murray will determine whether to continue their partnership.

The wholesome moment that recently took place at the Australian Open could make fans wonder if Andy Murray and Carlos Alcaraz ever faced each other on the court. After all, Murray found himself in the final stages of his career when Alcaraz began to steal the spotlight on the ATP Tour.

Nevertheless, Alcaraz and Murray did face each other on the tennis court. Murray defeated the Spaniard during the 2021 edition of the BNP Paribas Open. A few months later, Alcaraz beat the two-time Wimbledon champion at the ATP event in Vienna.

Despite the different stages of their career as professional tennis players, it was nice to see Andy Murray and Carlos Alcaraz facing each other across the net. Moving forward, Alcaraz has to remained focus for upcoming tournaments such as the BNP Paribas Open and the Miami Open. At the same time, Murray has to determine if he will remain a part of Novak Djokovic's coaching team.

Andy Murray has a challenge ahead of him. Novak Djokovic still needs to win two more matches in order to gain a record-breaking eleventh title at the Australian Open. As a part of the Serbian's coaching team, Murray has to come up with a strategy that can lead Djokovic to victory.
