Novak Djokovic won the highly anticipated quarterfinal against Carlos Alcaraz in four sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4. The match was set in the night session and lasted for almost 3 hours and 40 minutes. The Serbian is a father of two children, Stefan and Tara. They both are traveling with their father at a Major for the first time. Djokovic has expressed his desire to win a Grand Slam in front of his children.
As the former World No. 1 marches towards the semifinal round, the on-court interview witnessed some fun moments between Djokovic and his children. The match ended quite late, around 1 am local time. Djokovic’s kids were in the stands, cheering for him throughout the match, as he said in the on-court interview:
“I am surprised that my kids are still here, I mean I love you, thank you for supporting me but it’s 1 am, when are you going to sleep (laughs)”
To which Tara, his daughter, reacted by pointing at an imaginary watch on her wrist, which amused the whole crowd.
The 10-time Australian Open champion will face the second seed of the tournament, Alexander Zverev in the semi final on Friday (Jan. 24). In the last four meetings between them, all of them have occurred in the semifinal rounds of the event -- 2023 Cincinnati, 2021 Nitto ATP Finals, 2021 US Open and 2021 Tokyo Olympics, the head-to-head is tied at 2-2.
