Novak Djokovic’s son, Stefan, celebrated with excitement after his father’s impressive victory over Carlos Alcaraz at the Australian Open. The Serbian star took on the Spaniard in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, January 21, at the Rod Laver Arena.

Djokovic married his high school sweetheart, Jelena Djokovic (formerly Ristic), in 2014. Later that year, in October, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Stefan. Their family grew again in September 2017 with the birth of their daughter, Tara.

During Djokovic’s quarterfinal match on Tuesday, his children, Stefan and Tara, were spotted in the crowd alongside their mom, Jelena, at the Rod Laver Arena. Stefan, who has shown a growing interest in tennis, is often seen practicing and playing with his dad.

Djokovic began the match with a setback, dropping the first set, but he quickly found his rhythm as the game progressed. Despite being considered the underdog against the World No. 3, he once again proved why he can never be written off.

After a grueling three-hour and thirty-seven-minute battle, the 37-year-old silenced any doubts about his abilities with an impressive performance against Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic triumphed with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 victory, securing his place in the Australian Open Semifinals for the 12th time.

After Novak Djokovic’s winning point, his 11-year-old son, Stefan, let out a series of enthusiastic roars, celebrating his father’s hard-fought victory. Stefan, along with his sister, was seen clapping joyfully as their father secured his place in the semifinals.

The Serbian star is set to face Germany's Alexander Zverev in the semifinals on Friday, January 24. This will be their 13th meeting, with Djokovic currently leading their head-to-head record 8-4.

Novak Djokovic recently playfully teased his newly appointed coach, Andy Murray. Murray joined Djokovic in his pursuit of an 11th Australian Open title.

During a mixed doubles practice session at the Australian Open 2025, Novak Djokovic teamed up with Paris Olympic Gold Medalist Zheng Qinwen to take on the pairing of Victoria Azarenka and his former rival-turned-coach, Andy Murray.

The Belarusian player asked the Serb about bringing his son, Stefan, to replace Andy Murray.

"You wanna substitute him for Andy?" she asked.
Djokovic: “Who?”

After Azarenka confirmed, Djokovic turned to his son and asked if he wanted to take a chance.

"My son? Yeah, do you wanna play? (asks his son Stefan)," the Serb added.

Noticing Stefan’s hesitation, the Serb supported him while teasing Murray in a playful manner.

"He's not warmed up! Okay, I think he would do better than Andy," the Serb added.
