Novak Djokovic helped secure victory for the Serbian team against Greece in the 2024 Davis Cup World Group 1. The Serb played and won two matches to guide his team into the 2025 Davis Cup qualifiers.

Serbia faced Greece for a place in the 2025 Davis Cup qualifiers. Miomir Kecmanovic started the tie strong with a win against Aristotelis Thanos, defeating the Greek 6-3, 6-3. Then, Djokovic, at his ruthless best, eased past Ioannis Xilas 6-0, 6-1. Next, the 24-time Grand Slam champion teamed up with rising star Hamad Medjedovic to defeat Aristotelis Thanos and Stefanos Tsitsipas' brother Petros Tsitsipas, with the Serbian duo winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Despite there being a fourth match between Dusan Lajovic and Demetris Azoides, the former was forced to retire after winning one set, handing Greece one point. However, Serbia still clinched the tie 3-1 to book a spot in the 2025 Davis Cup qualifiers.

Djokovic and Medjedovic sealed the tie in Serbia's favor and celebrated the win by basking in the applause from the fans.

After the match, the 24-time Grand Slam champion was captured clicking pictures with young fans. He also had an endearing interaction with a child in a wheelchair. The Serb signed a tennis ball, clicked a picture, and also gave the child his jacket.

Novak Djokovic revealed in a press conference at the Davis Cup that he would not push hard to qualify for the 2024 ATP Finals. The Serb, who is currently in ninth place in the ATP's race to the finals, has made it clear that qualifying for the year-end tournament is not an important goal for him.

The 37-year-old also clarified that from now on his goal is to play the four Grand Slams, viz, the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open, and playing for his country.

“No. It’s not my goal at all, nor the ATP rankings. I am done with those tournaments. Whether I’ll play it this year or the next, I don’t know. From now on, priorities are gonna be Grand Slams and playing for Serbia,” he said.

As it stands, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev have qualified for the ATP Finals. Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur occupy ranks third to eighth in the ATP's race to the finals.
