Tunisian tennis star Ons Jabeur and her husband, Karim Kamoun, recently shared pictures of their spiritual journey as they completed their Umrah pilgrimage in Mecca. The couple posted glimpses of their experience at the holy mosque of Masjid al-Haram.
This spiritual journey comes at a pivotal time for Jabeur who concluded her 2024 tennis season prematurely in September due to a lingering shoulder injury.
The couple's decision to perform Umrah, a significant non-obligatory pilgrimage for Muslims, comes during Jabeur's off-season. Umrah involves a series of religious rites performed at the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
On December 16, 2024, Ons Jabeur took to Instagram to post pictures of herself and her husband in front of the Kaaba, the central structure at the Masjid al-Haram.
In the images, Jabeur is seen wearing a black abaya and hijab, while Kamoun is dressed in traditional white Ihram garments. Jabeur wrote the caption in Arabic, expressing her gratitude to God for completing the Umrah.
"Praise be to Allah for the complete life, O Allah, accept from us and do not leave us a prayer except that you have answered it, and there is no sin except forgiveness, O Lord," Ons Jabeur wrote (translated from Arabic).
Kamoun also shared a reel capturing their journey, showcasing the serene and spiritual atmosphere of their pilgrimage. The reel included clips of their travel to Mecca, the rituals they performed, and the moments of reflection and prayer at the holy site.
"O Allah, I ask you your love, and the love of those who love you, and the work that makes me express your love, O Allah, make your love more than myself, and my family, and from cold water. Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, for the complete Umrah, may God accept from us," Kamoun wrote (translated from Arabic).
Ons Jabeur opens up about being romantic, praises husband Karim Kamoun’s constant support
Following her victory at the 2023 Charleston Open, Ons Jabeur opened up about being a "romantic person" and expressed heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support of her husband, Karim Kamoun.
During a lighthearted moment with Tennis Channel's Steve Weissman, Jabeur was humorously asked if she would like a photoshoot with Canadian actor Ryan Gosling, known for his role in the romantic drama 'The Notebook.' The film was predominantly filmed in Charleston.
Jabeur humorously responded:
"It's my favorite film, you know. I'm a romantic person, I just love love stories and I'm kind of lucky because I have a good love story with my husband. He's my fitness coach and when we started working together, not everybody believed that we can become a great team. They thought that maybe personal and professional was not great."
"I don't like to say that we proved them wrong because we didn't do that for the people. But it's amazing to have this kind of love on and off the court, you know, just someone who wants to push you to do better. I'm just very lucky to have him, really," she added.
Ons Jabeur and Karim Kamoun tied the knot in November 2015 after dating for a couple of years. Kamoun, a former professional fencer, joined Jabeur as her fitness trainer in 2017 and has been a constant source of support in her tennis career.
