American No. 1 Taylor Fritz had some fun on the court after taking down compatriot Jack Sock 7-6(5), 6-4 in the Round-of-16 at the ongoing Dallas Open.

Fritz was given a cowboy hat during the post-match interview, which he graciously accepted, and gave the interview with his new hat on.

The Dallas Open posted a video of the World No. 8 in his new avatar on their Twitter account, stating that a 'Texas flair' was added to the player who hails from California.

"Adding a little Texas flair to the California boy." the Dallas Open tweeted

Tennis TV also tweeted a video of Fritz sporting the cowboy hat, captioning it:

"When in Dallas."

Fritz joined the conversation as well, reacting to the video with a greeting common in Texas.

"Howdy," Fritz tweeted, delighted with himself.

Writer and reporter Blair Henley, who interviewed the 25-year-old after his win, took to Twitter later to thank Fritz for being a great sport and joked that she is starting a cowboy hat-gifting side business.

"brb starting a cowboy hat gifting side gig. Thanks for being a great sport, Fritz," she tweeted

American tennis star Taylor Fritz is through to the quarterfinals at the ongoing Dallas Open, an ATP 250 tournament.

Fritz defeated American Jack Sock in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-4, to reach the quarterfinals. Fritz, who is the top seed in the tournament, now faces seventh seed and compatriot Marcos Giron up next. Marcos Giron defeated Germany's Oscar Otte 6-4, 6-3 to book his meeting with the American No. 1.

Fritz and World No. 55 Giron have faced off twice. Their head-to-head stands at 1-1. Giron defeated Fritz last year in the very tournament in the quarterfinals, winning 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(3) in three sets. In 2021, Fritz came out on top with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Giron at the Miami Masters.

The World No. 8 made a shock exit at this year's Australian Open, where he fell to Australia's Alexei Popyrin in an epic five-set thriller 6-7(4), 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-2 in the second round.

The American is gunning for his fifth ATP Tour title, with his best result coming at last year's BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells) -- a Masters 1000 tournament where he defeated Spain's Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-6(3) in the summit clash. By doing so, Fritz became the first American to win the tournament since Andre Agassi in 2001.
