Madison Keys was overcome with emotion after winning her maiden Grand Slam title at the 2025 Australian Open. The American rushed to embrace her husband and coach, Bjorn Fratangelo, after delivering a remarkable performance against Aryna Sabalenka.
Keys made a dominant start to her highly anticipated title clash against the World No. 1, clinching the opening set 6-3. However, Sabalenka battled back strongly to dominate the second set, forcing a decider. The duo engaged in a closely contested battle in the final set, with the American securing a crucial break of serve to claim a hard-fought 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 victory.
With her win, Madison Keys snapped Aryna Sabalenka's 20-match win streak at the Australian Open and thwarted the Belarusian's hopes of winning her third consecutive title at the Melbourne Slam.
The gravity of her accomplishment wasn't lost on Keys as she shared a tight hug with her husband and coach, Bjorn Fratangelo, with tears in her eyes.
Madison Keys tied the knot with Bjorn Fratangelo in November last year, with the likes of Jessica Pegula and Taylor Townsend joining the festivities. Given that Fratangelo also serves as the American's coach, he recently opened up about how he helped Keys adjust her game plan during matches.
"Something that I bring to the table is I have a very good eye for what's going on inside the match at all given moments, and I'm able to kind of adjust the game plan on the fly. I think I've been able to bring that to her game, where I can see things a little bit quicker than she can. When she does come over [to the coaching box], I can give her a gentle nudge of what's happening," he told the WTA.
Bjorn Fratangelo's advice was undoubtedly invaluable during the Australian Open final, as Madison Keys remarkably fended off Aryna Sabalenka's comeback attempt to win her maiden Major title.
