Tommy Paul showed his support for Lazio, a football club currently placed seventh in Serie A, the Italian football league. The American did so after reaching the semifinals at the 2024 Italian Open.
Paul is enjoying a good year, with a third-round appearance in the Australian Open, a title at the Dallas Open, and a final at the Delray Beach Open. He continued his fine form with a semifinal in the Indian Wells Masters and now reached the semifinal in Italy.
After defeating Hubert Hurkacz, he signed the camera with a tribute to Lazio ahead of their match with newly crowned Serie A champions Inter Milan.
"Forza Lazio," Tommy Paul wrote on the camera after his quarterfinal win against Hubert Hurkacz.
Lazio's social media handle acknowledged the support and replied with an emoji of an eagle. Lazio's badge features a golden eagle and hence is nicknamed 'The Eagles'.

Paul revealed in a press conference that he became a fan of the Italian football club because of compatriot Reilly Opelka. He also said that his favorite player was the club captain Ciro Immobile.
"Favorite player is Immobile. I am not sure how you guys say it. I became a fan thorough Riley Opelka. He kind of put me on. I didn’t even know how it started for him. I think he had a friend out here in Rome and he loved Lazio," Paul said.
He said that he did not have much knowledge about the history of the club, however, he was open to learning.
"Nothing, I know nothing. I am open to learning about it if you want to teach me a little bit," he said when a reporter questioned him about the history of the club.
Tommy Paul to face Nicolas Jarry in Italian Open 2024 SF
Tommy Paul will now take on Nicolas Jarry for a place in the final. His run to the semifinal saw him beat Aslan Kasatsev and Dominik Koepfer in the second and third rounds after being awarded a bye in the first round.
In the fourth round, he saw off the World No. 3 and defending champion Daniil Medvedev. Next, he downed Hubert Hurkacz in a three-setter encounter to book a place in the semifinals.
This is his first semifinal at a clay Masters 100 tournament. Also, if he reached the final, it would be his first final at any Masters 1000 tournament.
Paul and Jarry have previously faced each other once, at the 2023 French Open where the Chilean emerged victorious.
