As the new tennis season brings a lot of excitement, former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka has stuck around to play football and share a few wonderful moments with her son Leo and his friends before the calendar gets too hectic.
With the 2023 Australian Open behind her, where she had a memorable run to the semifinals, the former World No. 1 cooled down with her son Leo, spending quality time with her family.
One of those activities happened to be a "very competitive" kids pick-up game, where the Belarusian delighted her son and his friends by showing off her football skills. Azarenka shared a short clip of the same on her social media handles, writing:
"Family time, And a very competitive kids pick up game."
Victoria Azarenka herself is a huge football fan, having proved it on multiple occasions during the Australian Open campaign. Ahead of her match against Jessica Pegula in the women’s singles quarterfinals at Melbourne Park, she donned the jersey of Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain when entering the court.
In a later interview, she revealed that she has been a fan of PSG for a long time and that she wore the shirt because her son was a fan of the football club as well.
“[Leo] saw me wearing the shirt; he will wear the shirt so we’re matching, I have been supporting them [PSG] since 2012, since Beckham was signed to the club. I have been a fan for a long time and been to many, many games," she told the WTA website.
Azarenka further disclosed that her son is a football fanatic whose aim is to become a professional footballer for the Parisian giants in the future.
"He wants to play at Paris Saint-Germain. That’s his dream. I'm a soccer mum now and I love that. I love supporting. I'm obnoxious, like absolutely the most obnoxious. I yell, but I'm very positive. I'm actually very proud because it's a completely different emotion for me to support my son. I have no shame screaming for him, like zero," the Belarusian added.
