CNN sponsored the first presidential debate, which took place on June 27. ABC is expected to sponsor the second debate, which is slated for September 10. The two presidential hopefuls spoke on a host of issues like immigration, the economy and inflation, the ongoing war in Gaza and Ukraine, abortion, the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, and each other's age.

According to The New York Times, Donald Trump made many vague and misleading attacks on Joe Biden, while Biden's voice was muffed.

Brad Gilbert shared his concerns about the two candidates in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He called it a debacle and hoped that the US could get someone else into the presidential race. Gilbert wrote:

"I didn’t see the debate I mean debacle, just reading 📖 and seeing clips about it @jonstewart sums it up ⬆️ best, maybe 🤔 he should run 🏃‍♂️ for president certainly more qualified at this point, or hopefully 🙏 someone else can get into race we can so much better."

Coco Gauff recently lamented the condition of her hometown of Florida and also used the opportunity to encourage Americans, especially youth, to exercise their right to vote. Gauff, in a conversation with AP News, said that it was pertinent for the community to vote regardless of "who you vote for."

"At the end of the day, it comes down to the youth and the community being outspoken but also standing on business and going to the polls and voting. So I encourage everyone to vote and use your voice regardless of who you vote for," Coco Gauff said.

The 2023 US Open champion said that there was no point in complaining about politics if people do not vote for change.

"There’s no point in complaining (about) the political climate of the world if you don’t exercise your right to vote. That’s just how I was raised, personally. Hopefully, I can encourage people to vote and especially people in the youth. I feel like sometimes in my generation, people think their vote doesn’t count, but I think it's important to vote and everyone exercise their right to vote," she added.

Coco Gauff will soon begin her Wimbledon campaign against Caroline Dolehide in the first round.
