Andy Murray's mother Judy Murray has pointed out that it is the role of female coaches, including herself, to lead and encourage young girls into taking up tennis teaching. `

Judy joined forces with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) back in June 2019. Since then, she has been nurturing young female coaches, particularly from underserved communities.

The aim of the association is to develop potential coaches and influence more girls into taking up the sport through them. The 63-year-old has worked effortlessly under the organization to realize this dream.

As part of Women's Day (March 8), the LTA took to social media to recollect a quote from Judy Murray about inspiring young girls.

"Children learn by example. They are inspired by what they see," she was quoted as saying by the LTA.

Reacting to this, Andy Murray's mother opined that it is the duty of female coaches to persuade girls and improve the tennis teaching workforce for the future.

"If we want to encourage more girls into the tennis teaching workforce, we female coaches must show them the way and lead by example," the Scot wrote in her tweet.

Following Judy Murray's tie-up with the LTA in 2019, the Scottish coach reflected on the under-representation of women in tennis and stressed on how vital the partnership was to involve more girls in the sport.

"Women and girls are still hugely underrepresented in tennis and partnerships like this with the LTA are vital if we are going to encourage more girls to try tennis and more women to get involved in delivering," she said back in 2019.

Meanwhile, Judy Murray has showered praise on Maria Sharapova for her valuable advice to rising athletes, including tennis players.

In a conversation on the Glossy Podcast, the former World No. 1 stated that rising young athletes can be exploited by business brands. Hence, she maintained that youngsters should have strong guiding figures in their team to steer them in the right direction and help with the business side of things.

"It takes all the strength in the world and very smart and knowledgeable people to help guide you and help you understand [which deals to make], especially when you’re young because you don’t know," Sharapova said.

"It’s hard to have a real grip on the business [of brand deals], and to understand what people really want from you and how authentic it is," added the 35-year-old.
